The decision was made to plug, re-drill and veneer the old block. First a pattern is made of the old pinblock locating all of the tuning pin holes.
Here a modified drill press is set in the piano and the old tuning pin hole angle is noted.
Drilling out old holes to half inch for plugs.
Cutting plugs out of new pinblock material.
Plugging the block.
Cleaning up the plugs.
Veneering the block over the plugs.
Re-drilling the block for new tuning pins.
Finished pinblock, drilled, plugged, veneered and re-drilled ready for stringing.
