If you are buying a used piano, getting expert pre-purchase advise is a very good idea. If there is no conflict of interest I will be happy to assist you in buying a piano. This may involve over the phone or e-mail advise, which is free as time allows, or an appointment to view the piano, for which there is a charge. Look on my ' Other Links' page for lots of piano information.
For the local area I charge $80. for this service.
If you get a poor piano we both lose, if you end up with a nice piano we both win because I now have a customer with a good piano for me to service. It's in my interest to help you find a good piano.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions. But, understand if I have worked for the client who is selling the piano it may not be to their best interest to have me find fault with their piano, and this may be the information you most want to have.
Cheap and good don't go together. A 90 year old upright is past it's prime is usually a waste of money. The best I can say about an old upright is that it may last a little while longer. Some of these old pianos may have great tone and still play well, but their days are numbered. With moving costs and a repair and tuning bill, they may not be such a good deal. The same is to be said of any old piano that my be on the market for a couple hundred dollars. I recieve a couple calls a month from people that want to give me a piano, I won't even go look at them.
